An interesting read on an interesting topic. I am currently reading Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker which, like this piece, is a real eye opener as to the importance and function of sleep in general and also the different phases of sleep along with the consequences of deprivation. The ‘How Much Sleep Do You Need’ chart supports Walker’s assertion that the apparently widely held belief that the over 60s need less sleep is a myth. I am becoming convinced that promoting healthy sleep should be a priority in public health policy.
